Carbon Footprint of Commercial Projects

At Fritz Hansen, we care about the environment and know you do too. In the interest of understanding environmental impact, we can now deliver a Carbon Footprint product impact calculation for commercial client projects. *

CARBON FOOTPRINT EXPLAINED

A carbon footprint measures the total greenhouse gas equivalent (CO2e) produced over a product's life cycle. Every product's carbon footprint depends on the materials, production, shipping, use, and disposal (discarding or recycling). The methodology used for our calculations is the EU’s Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) which aims to produce more comparable results than traditional Life Cycle Assessments (LCA).

CARBON FOOTPRINT RESULTS & USAGE

All our calculations are screened by a second-party company to approve all data are valid for the methodology used to determine the carbon footprint results. If necessary and upon request, the results can be verified by a third-party (Bureau Veritas) for a fee. Third-party verified results allow the client to communicate the result as an official PEF result. All communication and usage of results must follow these guidelines, which are illustrated in the figure below. (Figure 1)

Guidelines

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

Fritz Hansen has prepared the carbon footprint calculations for most of our products and is continuing this project. However, please note that the waiting time for each order will differ.
On average, you should expect the following waiting time:
  • 1-3 weeks for standard products
  • 1-3 months for customised products (a customised product utilises specially ordered materials)

HOW TO REQUEST

Please contact your Fritz Hansen representative if you wish to request the carbon footprint of products ordered for a commercial project.
* Please note Carbon Footprint calculations are available for commercial client projects only. This service is not available for private consumer orders.
